He is a man who encourages the congregation to develop an intimate relationship with Christ through a strong prayer life and consistent study of the Word of God.  This compassionate, servant-leader is a man of great faith who seeks direction from the Holy Spirit in leading St. Paul Baptist Church @ Shively Heights.

Rev. Bingham was born in Cerulean, Kentucky and educated in his formative years in Hopkinsville, Ky.  He became a Christian at the age of nine years during a revival service and in 1959 accepted a call to the preaching ministry. His educational training includes Boyce Bible College, and Simmons Bible College.  Rev. Bingham has been awarded Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degrees from Simmons Bible College, (Simmons College of Kentucky), Georgetown College, and Mid –Continent College –The Baptist College of the Bible. Rev. Bingham’s ministry has been highly acclaimed and he has been the recipient of many awards.

Lincoln Bingham is known throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky as an ambassador of reconciliation.  For over 50 years, Dr. Bingham has been a voice and witness in Louisville and the Commonwealth of Kentucky for the reconciling power of the Gospel.  As a pastor of the West End Baptist Church and the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church for a combined total of 50 years, Dr. Bingham has faithfully proclaimed the love of Jesus and has led both congregations into creative and exciting ministries to their communities. As superintendent of Missions for the General Association of Kentucky Baptists he not only worked for 16 years to strengthen the educational and missions arms of the General Association, but he worked and built bridges between the General Association of Kentucky Baptists and the Kentucky Baptist Convention.

He served as Superintendent of missions for both the Central District Baptist Association in Louisville, Kentucky, which also included being director of The Baptist Fellowship Center. This center’s history dates back to 1914; a joint work sponsored and governed by a joint committee of members of both Long Run and Central District Associations.

Pastor Bingham served sixteen years as Superintendent of Missions for The General Association of Baptist in Kentuck

During his tenure in both the Association and convention he began to lead both into innovative programs of social and spiritual growth development. In each entity, coupled with his position as Consultant with the Kentucky Baptist Convention much progress was made. Both conventions grew in working together in reaching all people possible with the reconciling love of God.

Many ministry projects, including chairing a Tony Evans Crusade, and providing some leadership in the Billy Graham Crusades in Louisville and Cincinnati are a part of his ministry.

He formerly held positions as Black Church Development Consultant, Kentucky Baptist Convention/Missionary Associate – African American Church Planting Unit, Southern Baptist Convention; Co-Chairperson of the Greater Louisville Christian Reconciliation Ministries, Inc.; and, a member of the steering committee of Reconciliation Networks of Our World, and an instructor at Simmons College of Kentucky.

Perhaps the capstone of Dr. Bingham’s reconciliation ministries became a reality on August 23, 2009. He led the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Incorporated to merge with the totally Anglo Shively Heights Baptist Church, thus becoming one body of Christian believers. The church name is, St. Paul Baptist Church @ Shively Heights. The merge made local and national news. Local stations CBS, NBC, ABC and WDRB (Fox News). Plus “Good Morning America”, 700 Club, CBN and others.

Dr. Bingham retired from the position of Cooperative Ministries Consultant on December 31, 2010, after 35 years of service. He continues to serve as Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church @ Shively Heights, and as lecturer/teacher/ preacher in other churches, and institutions.
